Raymond Norman came to Canada from England in 1908 and Gladys Meade came to Canada in 1910 with the Norman homestead families which settled in the Stranraer, Sask. I was on such a farm north of Saskatoon a few years ago when the harvest from Hell was underway. Ruth is married to James H. Purdy and they have two children. It truly is his number one passion, hobbie, and pretty much the only thing he talks about. John passed away on August 9, 1990 at the age of 79 and Mary passed away on October 27, 2001 at the age of 85. We are chemical pesticide free, and our fertilizer is plant and animal based, as Mother Nature intended. Mike has had a passion for the dirt since he could walk into a sand box. Mary joined the Canadian Womens Army Corps during World War II and received an honorable discharge in order to return to the Stranraer farm to assist her father who was terminally ill.
